There is a Restless Me that cries
For chancy risks and changing scene,
For arctic blue and tropic green,
For deserts with their mystic spell,
For lusty fun and raising Hell

The Double Life
about restless me . . .
Restless Me is an online travel
magazine for people who love to travel, whether they grab a backpack and
trek through Southeast Asia, or enjoy sitting in a favorite armchair at
home reading about it. We celebrate this wanderlust with irreverent,
unconventional travel writing that truly explores the people and
cultures of our diverse planet. It is a different breed of travel
writing than you’ll find in most mainstream publications, but one that
is perhaps more important today than ever before.
Mark Twain once said “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and
narrow-mindedness.” Unfortunately, it seems that in our post-9/11world
most American consumers have shied away from the rest of the planet,
choosing to travel only within our own borders. Often when they do
venture outside the United States, it is on luxury excursions where they
are insulated from the people and cultures of other nations. This is
reflected in mainstream travel media outlets, where magazines focus on
expensive, five-star hotels, and a television travel channel focuses
almost exclusively on Las Vegas and our own national parks. That is why
it is necessary today to have media outlets that nurture the desire to
travel and to learn about the rest of the world.
That is what we aim to do. On this website you’ll find creative,
alternative travel writing. (If you’re interested in writing for us,
check out our contributor’s guidelines.) You’ll find a
forum to talk about all
things travel, whether you want to talk about your own travels, talk
about world music, exchange travel tips, or debate politics. We also
have links to travel blogs
and other travel websites.
We want to hear from you. If you have any ideas for the site, want to
contribute a story, have any questions or just want to tell us how we’re
doing, drop us an e-mail at editors@restlessme.com. We look forward to your feedback.
Cheers,
